RS Prop Masters - ANH Stunt Stormtrooper Helmet - PVC or ABS???

I got one of their lockdown sale suits, but these were only offered in ABS (would have preferred PVC, but the deal was a no brainer!).

I’m aware they yellow over time, as explained by Rob in the video, but just wondered how long it takes before yellowing is noticeable? I know it’s all down to where you display things, but I’ve noticed a couple of my other items have yellowed despite being well away from sunlight, and actually for the majority of the time in total darkness.

I’d hate to put my RS together and find in six months it’s yellowed!

Any experiences from owners?

I have one of the very first suits pulled and have no yellowing.ABS too.

All good. It's in a room that only sees artificial light if I'm in there. It's usually completely dark from sunlight. :)

Unfortunately I’ve had problems with items that were no where near sunlight. Just took my Scout (not RS) out of a bag after some time and that’s yellowed.
Also this strap illustrates how the angle of light from a window can affect items- yellow one side, stayed white the other.

I see what you mean. I guess I've just been lucky.

Yorkie fett wasn't talking about RS Propmasters produce.
There are different qualities of abs, and RS use very high quality and expensive plastic .the chances of theirs yellowing are low to non distance , as explained by other people in this thread .
Cheap nasty abs will yellow ..that's what y.f. Unfortunately appears to have .

Yep, but unfortunately the Scout mentioned and pictured strap came from reputable sellers who definately aren’t selling their stuff cheap!
Thanks for the heads up on the RS ABS, I can put my paranoia to bed now :p.

Below are pictures of my RS Props ANH Jim Dowdall signature edition, RS Props ESB Stunt, Anovos ANH, and an Anovos ANH converted to ESB.

The Jim Dowdall is several years old. I bought it from a fan so I do not know the details about it's construction. I'm not sure if it is ABS or PVC, but it is noticeably shinier than the RS ESB which I got within the last few months. The cap of my RS ESB Stunt and RS ANH Hero are both duller than the faceplate on the same helmet.

I purchased the Anovos converted to ESB from a fan, so I did not do it myself. From what I understand the frown and stickers were redone and the helmet was polished. This is the most shiny of any of these helmets. The Anovos helmets are ABS. As long as you don't have weathering to worry about, polishing should work fine to make the helmet more shiny. Although I'm not sure about polishing over the bumps on the RS.

@cking

What was your final decision, did you choose the PVC variant? I would be happy about a few pictures of the PVC variant, i am currently facing a similar decision. Thanks! :)
