After a few weeks of hard work, i've now finished my latest ROTJ trooper helmet which i converted from a ANH helmet.

Assembling the helmet how i wanted it was a LOT of work. I made the face a bit thinner and softened the details, but the hardest part was building it in such a way that the left ear would turn in towards the face.

I spray painted the whole helmet inside and out in white, but not the whitest white there is, like my other helmets are painted in. I done the usual wet sanding and T-cut after the paint was fully dry, but i didn't over polish it up, so it looks just like the ABS plastic that the original ROTJ helmets were made from.
    Here are some pics:

Wow, great job. That's really beautiful. ROTJ is my favorite variant, and you've captured it's uniqueness really well.

With the danger sounding like a complete noob/newb (or however you want to spell it) this was a complete eye-opener for me. I never realised that the ears were slanted in the ROTJ. (took me a year to realise the difference between a TK and a TD as well :confused )

I guess you DO learn something new every day.

Words fail me. Looks absolutely stunning Keith. Just like an original.

Can you elaborate on the white you chose to use. Was it a Halfords paint?

    Cheers

    Steve :)

Hi, just a quick question, I thought the the blue tube stripes were only used in ANH and in ESB and ROTJ they were black?

Thanks everyone, glad you all like it :)

Ben, i do have an ESB and a ANH to finish, but they won't be done for quite some time, as i'm working on my house at the moment.

Steve, I used Halfords paint as i always do. It was a Mercedes white colour.

MasterVader, the only helmet with black tube stripes was the SE helmet. The ESB and ROTJ were the only OT helmets to have stickers as tube stripes. They are blue printed on a white decal.

Here is another shot i missed out of my first post:

Thanks. It will have a foam liner as soon as i find the correct yellow foam. Its not made anymore here in the UK, so the only way to get it is in old furniture. I don't want to use that modern crappy stuff that discolours after a week or so like the foam in the SDS helmets.

Inspiring.... can you believe I still haven't finished my one Keith.?

Was the white paint a particular shade of Mercedes white or just simply 'Mercedes White' ?

The almost empty cans are in my shed, but i think it was Mercedes Glacier white.

    Wow, nice helmet.

It has the ROTJ look overall, but doesn't have the super soft details of most ROTJ helmets. A great compromise.
