well after several years of owning a FG MLCv1.0 Scout Lid I've finally got round to making a start on this helmet to add in my new prop room:love

here's a pic of the helmets I got from MLC serveral years ago lined up next to my DP helmet

Here's a pic of the helmet with its 2nd under coat of white

once the undercoat was dry I noticed serveral areas needed some wet'n'dry before another undercoat was laid on.

Looks amazing! I noticed that you filled the mouth grill. I´m wondering if they did the same thing on the real movie helmets after they decided that it would be to complicated to produce...

the grills where never on the screen used helmet - either painted on or had water slide decals

yes I know, but what I meant is that maybe the prototype could have had this. I think we will never know. But I like the grill on the Scout very much.

here's a progress picture of the snout detail placed on the plastic
mounting that I've shaped by hand with a stainley knife and sand paper

added the horizontal grove and went a bit to far into the plastic so I placed some
car body filler on there and used some went n dry paper to get he shape I wanted

well as the weather was good today I was able to give the snout part
and the plastic mounting a few coats of grey undercoat.Off on monday to
buy some Games Workshop black paint to finish off the snout tip

Looking good! I'm glad to see you filled in the grill areas. It'll be much more accurate.

thanks, I'm trying to go down the route of Movie Accurate including the final weathering.

But I'm toying with the idea of doing water slide decals on the helmet?

I toyed with weathering my helmet like the actual helmet on tour, even down to the torn decals. Maybe one of these days when I need a new project.

You helmet looks great. I picked up an MLC about 5 years ago for a prop display. The afew years later picked up the armor kit from him. Super nice.
Like the snout details.

just a small update, well I bought some Games Workshop model paint yesterday and finished the snout detail

I'm also adding the small detailed round part inside the snout detail located behind the mesh

Are these helmets still available? They look great:love

Darh Niob - these are still available thro bikerscout.net

I got a free bit of time and finaly ordered my lense material and internal hat liner from ebay yesterday to hopefully finish this helmet off.

I was thinking of using water slide paper and print the decal shapes onto the paper using a laser printer..... anyone used these before?

Once the helmet is finished I'm going to look at finishing it off using water based paints to do a dirty style helmet.
