Rogue One - Bodhi Rook costume (+ identified parts)

What specific modifications need to be made to the SARVIP vest? I'm pretty positive that the strap that goes around the chest is removed, as well as the straps at the bottom of the vest (the thicker ones), but I want to make sure before I cut them off...
Has anyone figured out what the large cap (...thingy...whatever...) is in his top left pocket? I'm so close to finishing this build, and I want to make sure I've got the proper items.

Thank you! I'm glad I didn't do anything-I'm looking at the display images and it looks like all of the straps are tucked or wrapped somehow.

I was able to get the majority of my costume done for Star Wars Celebration; I found out about a Scarif photo shoot on Cocoa Beach the last day of Celebration, which was very exciting. Hot and sand got everywhere, but exciting.
But even better than anything, was that I got to meet Riz! He complimented my costume a few times, and I was ecstatic. (Long story short, I did a Hamilton the Musical/Bodhi mashup for my picture with him.)

Now that I'm home, I'm reworking some details, and making the cable backpack next.

P.S. Was anyone else at Celebration? I want to see pictures! I was in and out of this costume and my Rey costume for RL that I hardly had a chance for pictures.
I heard there was someone with the full cable backpack that looked identical to Riz???
