Robocop Helmet Project

This is a fiberglass Robocop helmet i've been working on.
I've painted it once already, but i then decided to make it more accurate, by cutting out the orignal round disc things at each side of the helmet and replacing them with some scratch built ones, as the original discs were pretty awful, very flat rather than being dome shaped and far from perfectly round.
Here it is so far:

Holes cut out in the side of the helmet:

I made this by smearing some vaseline on the bottom of a coke can and then pouring some resin into it. When it was set, i removed the resin cast and drilled out the centre hole:

Here is the finished disc ready to be molded so i can cast two new ones for the helmet:

This is what it will look like when fitted:

I'll post more pics of it when its finished.

Thanks wackychimp for hosting,

I love it when members share their ingenious tips and approaches to building things. The Coke can as circular mold... that's classic (no pun intended)!

Very nice work, Keith! :thumbsup

Interesting project, and it goes to show how versatile things like coke cans are. Funny... The stuff we use to modify props hey..:lol

Thanks!

Its a full helmet i'm building with chin section. I don't have a full suit or any other parts.
The cast disc from the bottom of the coke can was a little too small, so i glued it onto a larger flat plastic disc and filled it up to the edge of the arger disc.
