Yes the hand was a bit out of place. if they utilized it in the story for the emotional affect (I.e. him feeling his wife's hand or face and shedding a tear because he could feel her with one of the only few organic pieces he has left) then i could see it making sense.. I guess they were just trying to vary from the source material. it just didn't have a purpose.. But visually I love the props, and computer interfaces. the future tech certainly looked plausible and slick.
I really hope we hear whether or not it will be getting a sequel.. I would be opposed to a reboot. he is back in the silver suit, and now things should take a grittier turn whilst still utilizing the same cast and background story.
Yeah, but the original is also good enough that you actually really want to rewatch it. Whereas the remake...meh. Can't be bothered.
I appreciate what they tried to do with this as a remake, and as remakes go, this was one of the less irritating ones, but honestly, I think it would've been better as a standalone film free of the Robocop IP. Sure, it'd draw inevitable comparisons to Robocop, but the notion of "a man's mind in a machine body" and what that does to people is interesting in and of itself. And hey, Robocop is reminiscent of 8Man anyway.
