RIP Jimmy Buffett

Not a surprise, he was in bad health the last few years, sad news none the less

Parrotheads everywhere have a long weekend to get slammed
 
I was going to post this a few days ago in the Funny/Cool picture thread, but it seems like Jimmy has finally found the one he lost.

There's a lot I could say here. I grew up on the Gulf Coast and in South Florida, so I enjoyed Jimmy with his laid back Gulf Coast/ Caribbean vibe and music. I first became familiar with him when surgeons would play his music in the operating room. It was even immortalized in a really solid 1991 film with William Hurt, "The Doctor" where a cardiothoracic surgeon likes to play "Why Don't We Get Drunk" as his closing music.

I'll quote Jimmy's wonderful "Savannah Fare You Well" as both an homage and obituary:

Now, I could stay another day or two
But what's the use of stalling
Deep in the winter even holdout leaves start falling
Lately every night above the declarations of our love
I hear the road calling

It's such a fragile magic
A puff of wind can break the spell
And all the golden threads are frail as spider webs
Savannah fare you well
