Revamped Vampire Batman finished.

Re: Revamped Vampire Batman W.I.P

This is going to be sick. I can't wait to see the finished product. Good work so far.

Re: Revamped Vampire Batman W.I.P

Thanks guys, sorry that i've been lagging big time. I still have to take pictures of all the individual pieces. They are all a little worn since comic con so i have to repair them a bit.

Re: Revamped Vampire Batman W.I.P

I used the same Demonia boots as last year. But i made the smart decision to have zippers put in since they take like 20 minutes to lace up. Way too long! Here's a pic of them, they're pretty nice hooker boots.

Here is a close up of the chest piece. It's rather subtle but it worked well, especially seeing it in the round from multiple angles. I had to use super 77 lightly each time i wore it to keep it in place and to get the spandex to grab the lowest points of the sculpture. I learned from last years piece that anything too deep would not grab and i have yet to find a glue that would dry 100% invisible against the fabric. So, this was as good of a success that i could have hoped for. Mind the orange ass in the pic

Re: Revamped Vampire Batman W.I.P

The irregular shapes i made in the chest did make gluing the symbol down a bit harder as well. If any of you out there have any suggestions for glues please let me know. Im always interested in having new materials to play with.

That is really friggin cool so far. Love the concept. Cant wait to see the whole thing finished. Great job!

Re: Revamped Vampire Batman W.I.P

Ok so its a new year and i thought id finish documenting the process for this damn suit. I found a plastic ornament and turned it into a sort of repellent capsule. I just tossed in a few herbs, plants, and salts that are used for to ward off a multitude of creatures for their purifying properties. I think there was garlic, salt, mint, maybe more...i can't tell as you can see from the picture. It's rotted since i last wore it. It works though, just more texture.
Chains were also added to the belt. It held the capsule and the large cross which broke while i was at comic con sadly. Oh well. Other than that i just thought it was good filler.

Oh! The cross that i attached to the outside of the capsule was a decorative piece i bought. I molded it, poured it up in clay, remolded it and then cast it in resin. Yeah it was a lot of work for such a stupid little detail.

Re: Revamped Vampire Batman W.I.P

The neck piece. I had to sculpt a neck piece to hide the end of the cowl. Im not a fan of the usual look where the cowl is on top of the cape. The neck piece served a few purposes. 1st it hid the end of the cowl, 2nd it kept the cape from moving around.
I hate the idea of gluing multiple pieces together and having to try to separate them because one of the pieces is damaged. I decided to use snaps to connect the cape and the neck piece together.
I marked where they would line up and put 4 snaps through 4 pieces of canvas. I use canvas because the big weaves are great for embedding latex. I attached, with latex, the canvas to the neck piece and the corresponding snap tops to the underside of the cape. Now if there is a problem with either piece i can simply snap them apart. It makes packing the suit easier too.

There's all 4 of the snaps in place.

Re: Revamped Vampire Batman W.I.P

Here is the cape. The cape was made out of the same material as the gloves. It's the same material as my last cape. It has great texture and weight to it. It does slide all over the place when it's against spandex. That's why the snaps were put in place. My gf sewed in a strap that connects across my collar bone. I had a lot of problems with the cape slipping back last year. The snaps and the strap keep it tight in place.
She also sewed in some seams down the back of the cape to match the comic book look.

and here it is attached

this is where it sits when its on. The neck piece also hides the strap. It's pretty comfortable and it doesn't choke me like last years.

Here are the seams my gf sewed in. You can also see the snaps that will connect to the neck.

Here is the cape and neck piece snapped together as one piece.

And finally to wrap this crap up. Here is the end result. Overall it was much more comfortable to wear, aside from the damn hooker boots. The cape held well in place, the neck moved more freely, and it was easier to remove and pack. Hope you guys like it. Im going to retire both batman suits and maybe do a batzarro cowl in the near future.

Here is one of me and my gf, as a feral cat-woman. They both came out great. I'm hoping that eventually she will make a thread about her suit. Well, on to hobgoblin now...
