hey guys

does anyone have a pic of a retooled rubies supreme vader helmet with their costume? After the mods is it worth keeping???

Here's mine. I'm currently working on modding a new one to correct some things I didn't do the first time around. It's a fun project, I think it's worth keeping if done right.

This is another one with the whole costume at an event with my son

Here's mine after a lot of work....

and painted and finished.

I did cut the neck down and reshaped it. As well ; as the dome mount. And resculpted the face.

But i have long since sold this costume.

Heres mine:

I don't know about others but no i didn't trim the neck, just boiled it for five mins or so, then pushed it in to reduce flare while holding it under cold running water. Took a couple of attempts but it worked
By the way Betamin, yours is still IMO one of the best mods i've seen :thumbsup

did any of you trim the neck area?
[/b]

I trimmed the sides up a bit on mine, since I couldn't get it to stay in shape with the boiling water trick. It's probably too short but it looks better and doesn't stab the sides of your neck or shoulder when I turned my head while wearing it last Halloween.

Thanks, Darth. I appreciate the compliment. :) Yours looks damned good too. I need to mess with the helmet on mine though, it sits low after I did mods to the top to mount it differently, and it's kind of funky the way it sits.

Great thread.

I myself own a Rubies supreme and have thought about doing some work on it.For now im just going to paint the nose and get rid of the crappy plastic nose piece and then im going to change the tusks and mesh under the vents/grill.Saying that, could anyone tell me if i need to modify the helmet chin vent to make it more like the ESB version and which mesh i need to use? Also, what colour lenses were on the screen used ESB vader?

Sorry for the slight hijack.

I wouldn't remove the nose piece, as it will make the nose edge too thin - just fill in the seam-line.

Yes, you will have to make the chin vent smaller somehow. I have heard that magic sculpt should work well for such a project. It is not MUCH smaller than the RotJ chin vent... though, it could be fun with some real meassurements of the ESB chin vent compared to the RotJ, as well as some comparison pics to help visualize how much filler has to be added.

I believe, and I'm not sure about this, that they used amber lenses in ESB... though, others may give a more precise color description.

its hard to believe how good this POS can look.

why oh why couldnt it have come from the factory a little closer to what you guys make of it? :confused

great work to all.

man, those look more like don post CAs than rubies... WOW.

makes me want to try and pick one up.

if i did i think id just go ahead and make an idealised vader... i really want an ANH, but this would take so much work to pull off...

or has anyone done it?

I believe GundamZeppelin did an ANH, but I could remember wrong.

I don't know if anyone's done this yet, but I'm sure there are some....

I made mine into a reveal mask.
I still need to fix it since the flat top on it is REALLY bugging me...

If I fix up a rubies again, I'm probably just going to stick to making it more like an ROTJ or ESB....

WTF is bugging you about it fetty???

thats frickin gorgeous for a rubies mod...

can you still connect the bottom half?

WOW... :eek

Thanks a lot guys. :D

Well, it's flat when it should be curving slightly all the way around and it kinda makes a few other things look off.
I'll fix it eventually though. I don't know how or when, but I will....

The bottom half I don't know what to do with yet. I'm stuck on what to do for all those metal details in the mouth section.
It connects almost perfectly to the mask...

could we see a pic of it put together?

there are interior kits around alot... well untill ya need one i guess... :p

i see what your saying...

but do you see what im saying?

that is a RUBIES... :confused

and for that... just wow...

you could just make it able to click together somehow and im sure get a pretty penny on Ebay (most wont notice the frankenstien head :p )

and do it again, i just wouldnt undo what youve done cause for what it started out as... that thing is awesome..... :D
