reparing gelcoating?

If it's just scuffed, you could use progressively finer sandpapers to buff it out. Go all the way to 2000 grit wet sanding and then you could use a buffing compound to get a mirror finish. But it you've broken through the gel coat, sand the area with a course sand paper and re-apply some gel coat in the area. Spray PVA on it while it cures, then back to your progressively finer sandpapers to make it nice once it cures completely. A sealer on top or maybe just wax should make it nicer.
