Finally, after 1 solid year of waiting: metal Batman Begins gauntlets forged in bronze. Double layered, working hinge, sharp blades, leather liner inside, custom fitted for my arms, 2+ lbs each. Bulletproof, knifeproof, etc, etc.

Anyone wanna test their ninja swords against me? :)

Still working on the final coat and finish, so go easy on me for the color.

Holy crap! I remember you telling me eons ago that you were having those made (and paying a fortune for them). Well worth the wait. They are absolutely stunning! Whether or not you have stairs, you are protected.

They were cast in Germany if memory is correct, weren't they?

Made in Germany yes, by master armorer Antoni Feldon in his forge. His site is http://hetmanmilitaria.com

He mostly does historically correct armor for Roman reenactors, museums, and occasionally movie stuff, but usually keeps it all in the vein of real and functional.

I have no idea how he made them, since I got no information for the year it took to make them until they were done. I would guess that the blades are cast, since they are identical on each gauntlet. And since the vambrace sections are actually 2 layers of bronze, I would think those parts are forged. The ribs that run along the vambrace are separate pieces welded on, and so are the blades themselves. The ribs were probably forged but they are so symmetrically perfect I don't know. He is really professional so I'm sure he could pull it off either way.

I'm toying with the idea of having a foundry make a mold of them and pour a solid bronze casting of each.
