would there be any way of preventing the copper keys from tarnishing at all?

Any kind of microcrystalline wax would work well if it's just going to be displayed with light handling. Renaissance Wax is one brand that museums often use, about $15 on amazon. The little jar will last a really long time as you use very little.

I'm really excited to show you guys this!! I'm carving a jade key, I went with aventurine because it's hard enough to survive the machine carving and polishing process. Aventurine is all natural and un-dyed material, this size is harder to acquire, also CNC machine needs two days to work on one key so price may be high, polishing has to be done by hand as well, but it will turn out very, very nice.

Machine carving will make them consistent, better than hand carving. Definitely.

I have the first sample made, some tweaks are needed, but here's the key fresh out of the CNC machine, before polishing and holes are not bored yet. It turned out nice, and the color is so beautiful even before polishing.

The cost for CNC is very high and my aventurine jade is only enough to make 6 to 7 keys, so I will only make 7 keys, shipping is $30 for secure EMS shipping.

Right on I’m looking at about $100 for the crystal key. Jade key will be most expensive and limited by material availability.
