Rancor dungeon door control

So here's an update where I'm at with this thing. I re-shaped the top side halves because I found in a pretty clear image that they're somewhat rounded. I cleaned up the gaps and did some more filling and coating. Re-textured the red button to match the existing prop since the film image is flipped. I made a template so the most notable scuffs match the screen shots. I started working on the frame. Have some filling to do but I got all the edges rounded.

Beyond cool...but you already know this Ryan ;)

Will be interesting to see, how the small details of the model kit parts transfer into the mold/ casts.

The silicone i use picks up everything in the mold. There's a slight texture on my switch also. Just cast the original orange bulb and the base as separate pieces. They can be unscrewed. Did a test and also made the cast to take 5mm l.e.d's. Cast the base in black and did a quick weathering to see how easy it'll be for the builder. These aren't too easy to get the orange ones on line as I thought, So my wife and I are trying to make this a user friendly kit for the builder

. Here's the casts. The base with the yellow dot underneath it is a real base that I cut short. But you can see how well the colors match and the cast turned out reasonably well. Some very tiny bubbles but it really doesn't matter because you won't see them.

Started experimenting with texturing on the "textured" red button. I can't see the sides at all but it would be odd to have the front of the button pretty worn and no damage or corrosion to the sides. Here's a cast with a rough paint job just so you can see the texture. I also made a clean version of the button.

I'm doing another version of the red button. You can't see it in any of the images really but the details on this thing are really cool so I made this one so you can see the grooves and little square in it. I'll do a weathered/distressed version too.

I use a filler paint but do light passes. Eventually it starts to build up and leaves a texture. Then I rub my thumb over it so its not too aggressive. Use a sewing needle to pick out the little holes in the screen mesh looking areas.

Hey guys, kits available!

Anyone out there built this prop lately? I'd love to see peoples interpretations.
