R.I.P. G.D. Spradlin

He was one of the great character actors in Hollywood. He played a perfect general and politician. Seriously. When I first saw him in Apocalypse Now, I thought he was a former military officer.

Thank you all for your well-wishes and support.

I shared this thread with my aunts and uncles. They were supprised that people here knew of him. I had to explane that this is the RPF and what movie geeks we really are. :) And it was no suprise that the members here would be familiar with his work.

Thank you all.

Are you kidding - the man was a fantastic actor. He's one of those people who was could alter not just his performance but his looks as well in order to convey a character - Watch him in Ed Wood as opposed to any other movie - he could make himself look different. Your uncle will be missed - there are so few actors of nature around - so few.
God's probably already given him a part to play that no one else could do.

I saw the thread, but couldn't put him somewhere, I just recently watched "Intruders" and then I saw his name - he played the deadly serious General Hanley. My condolences to you.

He was just Uncle Duan to me (technically he was my Great Uncle).
He was a character actor, I'm sure you guys have seen him.
Here are a few notable roles:

The Godfather II - Senator Pat Geary
Apocalypse Now - General Corman
The Greatest American Hero- Nelson Corey
The War of the Roses - Harry Thurmont
Ed Wood - Reverend Lemon

I'll miss you Uncle Duan.
It was nice to see that AICN posted a piece about your uncle.

Sorry for your loss.
