He was just Uncle Duan to me (technically he was my Great Uncle).
He was a character actor, I'm sure you guys have seen him.
Here are a few notable roles:

The Godfather II - Senator Pat Geary
Apocalypse Now - General Corman
The Greatest American Hero- Nelson Corey
The War of the Roses - Harry Thurmont
Ed Wood - Reverend Lemon

I'll miss you Uncle Duan.

Oh, wow. I always enjoyed Mr. Spradlin's performances, especially his role as the deliciously sinister Sheriff Cyrus Beulton in "Tank". That is such an un-sung film, I've always loved that picture. I'm very sorry to hear about his passing.

He was great in the pilot of Greatest American Hero and INCREDIBLE as the Holy Rollers that give Ed Wood the money to make Plan 9 from outer space. I still laugh everytime Johnny Depp (playing Wood) steps out in drag and your uncle says "MR WOOD- WHAT ARE YOU DOING?"

RIP.
I have a very fond memory of him in Tank, alongside James Garner & James Cromwell.
As a kid I didn't go to the cinema that often but I was determined to see that.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss as well. I can say I've only seen Apocalypse Now, but I'll have to rewatch it for him (it'll have to be after my move). My heart goes out to you, and your family.

Oh I knew exactly who he was before I opened your post.

Very sorry about your loss, Man he was great in everything I saw him in

He was great in the Godfather II. I always loved it at the end of their conversation when you find out he's been deliberately mispronouncing Michael's name the whole time.

I'm so sorry to hear about this. I haven't seen many of his movies, but he was great in the ones I have seen. RIP :(

Someone asked for a pic:

Agreed. I was stationed at Ft. Benning on Kelley Hill when "Tank" was filmed. I remember running PT one day and seeing the "guard shack" and fence that James Garner drove a tank thru at the entrance to the 197th Inf. Bde. area...
