Quick question for ironman builders

I'm beginning work on the legs of my buzz costume, and i considered connecting the thigh and calf sections with some sort of hinging mechanism.
I was just curious if the IM leg sections are normally connected, or if its been tried and failed. Any info would be of great help.

I am about to complete that section on my IM build. My guess is if the leg pieces conform too tightly on your leg, then it will be a problem, because it will seriously hinder your leg movement and balance. But if there is some play with the leg room, you should be able to hinge them with no issues. Thats my logic. I'll soon find out if im right. GL.
