Quick LOTR sword question, Sting

I've hopped onto the weathering my swords bandwagon, and am giving the treatment to my Sting and my Strider sword.

I'm unable to find screenused photos of Sting, and would like to know if the silver leafing on the handle is actually painted on, like on the replicas i've seen, or if it's a sculpted wrapping.
