I have trolle around for a few days now and I am not sure where to put this topic but I guess I decided here. I have been talking to ruffkin about making me a few pieces of a suit and was hoping to ahve them by halloween but now we have run into a problem. I am allergic to Latex... Is there anyone that has any suggestions? I thought perhaps if I wore some under armor shirts and pants or something like that it might be ok. I really dont want to chance it since each time you are exposed to latexx it gets worse. Maybe if they suit was made of someting else.. Silicone maybe? I dunno really I was hoping some of you might know. I would really like a torso skin and some hands by halloween if anyone has some ideas. I know thats not much notice but I didnt know this place existed until I started searching around for the best costumes. If there is no way possible to get them by halloween I would like to shoot for the AVP 2 release so i can wear it there. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

Man, I am really sorry to hear about your allergy to latex. There's really not a whole lot you can do about it. Especially within a hobby that so heavily depends on the one thing that makes you sick. Unfortunately, this isn't a real allergy friendly hobby... so unless you're rollin in money and can afford something like a silicone skin suit... you're kinda SOL. Latex is pretty much the backbone of this regardless of it's form. There's no magic answer here dude... I am sorry.

You could always airbrush a cloth suit or lycra body suit. This demands more research.

That sucks. sorry to hear about the problem.

hopefully somoene here will be able to suggest something :)

see i told ya..... :) these are good people

As i told you in the PM and i'm not 100% on this but maybe would a BODYGLOVE suit work or does it have the rubber lining on the inside?.....

i'm thinking maybe the bodyglove to protect your skin with a layer of rubber latex on the outside..this way your body doesn't come in direct contact with the latex.

That sounds like a good idea!

Although I know guys who work in my same line of work, and the odor of latex paint is enough to give them a rash. I dunno. Give Andrews idea a go and see what happens.

here is the link for it

BODYGLOVE SUITS

yikes on some fo the prices but there are kind of typical if you were to get a "skin" from one of the resources here..

**** now it's got me thinking about it for my next suit........

IZO on the brain :)

So you are telling me that silicone cost way more to mold than Latex?

i heard that as well.... silicone is a tricky susbstance to work with and it's expensive as hell. I also heard that it's not very good under certain conditions like heat..

and those that suit up will tell you that heat is the primary component in being suited up...cause it's HOT AS HELL inside the predator suit.

I agree that a body glove or spandex body suit, painted appropriately would be a very good alternative to latex. Plus, it would be a helluva lot cooler in temperature and easier to move around in.

Well, I dont know how al this works yet since I am a newbie. I was thinking the latex casue I am not built/cut / ripped or whatever you wanna call it. I could use some toning and I was afraid spandex just painted would show that extra bit I got more than the latex or silicone suit. If there is anyone that would make one of silicone that could quote me a price to see if I could get it would be great. Any other suggestions? I like the help so far.

Well ok, I got wih my doc becase this allergy is a new thing... I painted about two weeks ago with latex paint and I broke out in a rash. I decided that I thought that wasnt enough proof. I went bought some latex gloves from walmart las night and wore them around the house to see if I broke out. I did not even get itchy. What do you guys think? Then I thought about it, kind of a TMI here, I have worn latex condoms and it not bother me... SO I should be good to wear these suits huh? Still waiting to hear from my doc on this but thought I would talk to you guys about it!! lol.

It could have been something in the paint or maybe even something you ate that day. However if you are allergic to latex I would say paint up a muscle suit like in the shockwolf guide. Then see about doing some fiberglass armor pieces. Then you may be able to get away with some other stand in pieces like hockey gear etc.
