Question - Replica Paper Props or Free Paper Props?

Just like to gets peoples opinions about the following.

This forum is named "Replica Paper Props" however it's main purpose is the sharing of "Free Replica Paper Props" and even the Sticky Welcome to the FREE Paper Props Forum! *** POSTING GUIDELINES *** states that this forum is for the sharing of Free Paper Props.

Do you think we need to suggest a Forum name change just to include the word Free? There seems to be a little confusion sometimes, especially with new members with posting replica paper props they have created, but have no intention of sharing.

From a personal point of view, I am involved in a current project which was originally started in this forum, however it has since changed from being a Free Project to a "Possible For Sale" Replica, should we move the thread to the Replica Movie Props?

So what do you think ?

I maybe I was wrong to place a couple of my Thread: "Necronomicon - Lost pages", "Great Old Ones - Cthulhu Mythos" and "The Goonies - Alternative Movie Poster".
I do not know exactly where to place them.
Please delete if you think this.
Sorry if I have caused confusion.

I think this should just be the Paper Prop section; for all props made from paper.

Sometimes I like to show of what I have been working on. If I do not wish to share it I will post it as a photo. Sometimes I do wish to share a prop and will post it with a link or PDF. I only post these when I don't mind if some one uses it or sells it or changes it; to think otherwise is foolish.

This Paper Prop section just makes it easier to locate a certain type of prop that people are interested in. Look at the Harry Potter stuff, they have their own section now (FREE should be removed from there as well).

FREE is up to the individual and should not be apart of the title (my opinion). None of the other sections have FREE in their titles. With this extra word comes a certain sense of entitlement or expectation. It is an added pressure that I feel is unnecessary. Many members here spend long hours, laboring over props and would like to show them off but not share them. This is where they should be able to do that; and if they want to sell them - the Junkyard.

Just my 2 cents.

Hi all,

Not sure this is going to make sense..... :lol

I agree there are other forums for harry potter, replica movie props, costumes, even judge Dredd etc but the paper props forum only has one - I do feel that it should be for all paper props regardless of if they are free or not just somewhere to showcase what you've done and if you want to share then you can - but also I don't want to loose the "FREE" share sense of family we have here, if it goes to a paper prop only then we may loose people sharing stuff and that's whats made this forum a family, we all look after and watch over each other and our stuff.

As dd28 said 3 of us are involved in a great project which did start off as a "freebee" and we may still go down that road to some extent but it would be great if we could post updates etc. on our progress without having to worry about it - so at the moment I'm, stuck on the fence in limbo, but agree with both DD28 and DBCooper.

And not only that if you are looking for a Smallville Newspaper, a page from the Book of the dead, or the letter from harry potter where would you look !!!! HERE

I agree (if it matters lol) paper props needs its own section. Whether free or not. If not free they just mention it in the post title.

I'd like some police academy paper props and ghostbusters lol just sayin.....lol

I would think it may be better or easier to understand for some, to have two sections? one for Free paper props people are willing to share and another for showing off what they have done? just my pennies worth :D

I'd go with Drac, split the paper props in to two, the paper props forum can then be open to anyone and the free paper props to longer term members to weed out the undesirables. Or use headers like in the Junkyard.

It's a pity it's almost impossible to enforce a sort of creative commons/not for profit rule in the free area.

i think it should stay the same as it is. its the same gray area of all props therefore it shouldn't be named free for the slight chance of abuse. as some paper replicas are user made (and based on others work etc) some are shared here even tho they are copyrighted and aren't free.

i also think since most people can have access to printing, and those files are shared here and once they are shared here they are in fact free for the taking, we might not have the actual right to call it free.

just my opinion, a new member of this forums.

I agree with DBCooper. It should be left as it is: Replica Paper Props (just ONE place to look for paper props - I think that if TWO paper props Threads are created it's just one more place to look for...)
ALL paper props should go here: if you just want to show them, if you want to show them and share (pls inform so) or if you want to show and sell (inform that the paper prop you've created will be available for sale at the JY)
Just my humble opinion...
