Question for Doctor Who Fans - Reissuing Costume Items

So I know that Paul Smith reissued their waves shirt, and I remember on the Who cosplay livejournal a while back some folks got a Rose Tyler scarf re-issued. So my question is this – are there any other items that we want reissued? Could we collectively approach their manufacturers? I’m thinking specifically of the trademark David Tennant Daniel Hechter tie, maybe the Utopia/Sound of Drums tie? If we cross-posted, I’m sure we could get a decent amount of interest.

After all, if a company as posh as Paul Smith would do this, I’m sure that Debenhams might consider it.

Thoughts?

My brain was thinking Roger Daltrey, Pete Townshend, etc...

Took me to "Rose Tyler scarf" to think - "waitaminute..."

I wouldn't put money on that, Debenhams is a chain store they sell by volume unless the demand is high they probably wouldn't even give it a second thought.

Fixed topic title!:thumbsup
I said Debenhams, but they sell duffer st. george items, who are a smaller company and i think might listen to fans.

I think it depends on the company and more importantly how much interest/demand could be drummed up in the form of wiritng in or a petition etc to make them see there's money in re-issuing an item.

It never hurts to send an e-mail and ask but the liklihood IMHO is usually very slim (but not impossible as the re-issues you've pointed out did happen). There aren't usually enough Who fans out there to justify the volume needed.

A friend with BBC connections tried to get some ties reissued with no luck there.

However, the Hechter tie doesn't really need the treatment, I've seen a preview of the newest version Magnoli is working on and it looks like it'll be an exact duplicate.

That's great news, I have the first version, which i sometimes still wear, but I'm looking forward to seeing the new one. What about the John Rocha tie? That's another manufacturer that's relatively ordable? Maybe they'd consider a reissue? I know that where i work, if 20 people wrote requesting the same thing over a period of a couple of months, we'd at least take notice.

There's a Rocha tie on eBay right now, $5 Buy It Now and it's been there a while. I'd buy it myself if I didn't have one already.

Sorry, I meant the Thomas Nash one. :confused:confused too many ties... ;-)

Thanks for the heads up with the Rocha tie though!:thumbsup

Yea, the Rocha ties still seem to be fairly easy to get, I've got a couple. I'm not a big fan of it, though, it's cheaper than the Armani, Duffer, etc. I'm sure Magnoli could make the Nash tie, but I don't think there's been enough interest expressed to make it worth it just yet. The Armani is much higher on the priority list, as well as the blue suit ties.

If I had my way, I'd have all of the Rose Tyler pieces reissued, but that won't happen. :(

Maybe if I could just get the jacket from Journey's End I'd be happy. I know it's an Oasis jacket.

Diesel also does a lot of her stuff.

We found a really good look-alike of the Journeys End one for Halloween this year, the colour was a little off but it had the elasticated bits and the right cut - so there are options.

I know, but it'd always be nice to have the actual jacket. Though, out of curiosity, where'd you find the "close enough" version?

I know for the Rose Tyler scarf, a petition was signed online and sent to the company so that is always an option though I am sure not all companies will do so. However, it worked for the scarf.
