Question about Radio Shack PCB Etchant

Does anyone know if the PCB board etching solution Radio Shack sells only works on copper as stated? Will it work on aluminum or brass sheet as well?

If it helps I used this: Stop using Ferric Chloride etchant! (A better etching solution.)
to etch some "Pull to Open" TARDIS signs in aluminum and it worked beautifully. Fairly cheap too. Don't know why it wouldn't work with copper, tho I can't speak for brass...
