"QMx Secures Complete Star Trek® License for Collectible Lines

LOS ANGELES, CA — September 28, 2012 — Quantum Mechanix Inc. (QMx) is pleased to announce that it has secured the rights from CBS Consumer Products to produce collectibles for all Star Trek movie and TV properties.

Among the QMx collectible items will be:

Ship replicas – both studio-scale and mid-scale limited-edition ship replicas.
Animation-style maquettes.
Novelty items – including jewelry, key chains, stickers and more.
Prop replicas and set props.
Lithographs
Plushes

Already in the works is the Artisan Edition Studio-Scale U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D, a 38-inch long, film-quality replica with working lights and a screen-accurate paint job. Like all QMx Artisan replicas, the Enterprise will be 100% made-to-order in the U.S.A. with the finest detailing and greatest precision.

QMx has pioneered the U.S.-based development and manufacture of licensed, made-to-order ship replicas. Each Artisan ship is assembled, wired and painted by hand in a working model-effects shop. This process, while more resource intensive and more time consuming than overseas manufacture, ensures discerning collectors get a replica of unsurpassed quality.

QMx’s plans for Star Trek go well beyond high-end filming miniatures. The company also has a replica of the Star Trek: The Next Generation communicator badge in development that offers fans a unique way of fastening the prop to their clothing – using a magnetic clasp.

The company will also be releasing the next in its hot replica key chain line – the Enterprise D. Cast in metal with a pewter finish, the Enterprise D key chain is based on the same digital effects files used to create the big replica.

Taking a cue from QMx’s best-selling Little Damn Heroes line of animated chibi-style figures, Star Trek fans can expect to see a full line of small-scale character maquettes that are as well-crafted as they are adorable.

“Working on Star Trek products is something of a dream come true for our team,” said QMx CEO Andy Gore. “Whether it’s a key chain, a screen-accurate prop or FX model, folks can expect us to put extra effort into surprising and delighting them.”

Star Trek collectibles will be available in comic, collector and specialty stores around the country, and are also available directly at QMx Online.

The money is too steep....compared to other companies such as Icons, SC ,HCG , MIM , I hope they supply some at an affordable rate compared to what they have had, we will see , glad they got the rights to it, I still want their QMX Viper , but out of my price range ,at least until next year........lol......

I agree with their models but IIRC their NuTrek phaser was pretty well priced.

This definately rings the death knell for DW props then.

Hope you ST fans don't get fed the BS from QMx that us Who fans experienced.

Good to see them expanding the Trek line. Though the magnetic clasp on a next gen com badge was done years ago. QVC sold one that was magnetic and the back magnet was mounted on a push button sound board about the size of a us dollar coin.

(y)thumbsup:thumbsup

Never got in on that QMX phaser. Then I saw yours and got jealous. :lol

I've been pretty lucky with QMX's stuff.
The plating and painting on my ST-'Jabrahms' phaser was fine, a lot of folks weren't pleased with theirs.

And my Mal pistol turned out ok, no warped barrel(well...1 of the 2 were perfect)

I also found their customer service great, while others...not so much.

I think being outside the US, benefits the purchaser if there's problems because I heard people in the US with defects had to send the defects back to QMX as part of the return/exchange policy(someone correct me if I'm wrong) but with Canadian orders(I know of 2 others) we didn't have to send the defective ones back. I got a great deal from QMX in that respect. That's why I donated one for a prize at the last Toronto Prop Party.

Hehe, t'was my pleasure.

So...accurate metal TNG comm badges huh? That'll be nice.

As for phasers, my wish list........hell I want them all.
