Jason Bradbury (UK TV presenter) commissioned this build from me to publicise his new book 'Dot Robot'. It's a model of 'Punk', one of the book's robots. The body is based on a pair plastic hemispheres and the spikes are cast from resin.

Cracking work sir! Looks like a Bumble Ball that's gone futuristic and a bit postal. How difficult did you find mounting the pieces to the spherical shape? I like the stand too, very appropriate.

I love The Gadget Show.

That is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love your work on your website!!!!!!!! You are very talented. Keep those coming love it!

Love it!!! What type of paint did you use?
Alclad over various different surfaces to try and get a used metal look.

How difficult did you find mounting the pieces to the spherical shape?
Not too difficult. The 'collars' at the base of the spikes are made with a recess on the underside so that only the edge touches the sphere. A threaded rod is embedded in the body part of the spike and passes through the collar and the sphere and is held in place with a nut and some washers. It's pretty solid and automatically goes on at the right angle!

Where is the rest of the Mace that ball attaches too ?
Funnily enough, the robot is described in the book as looking like exactly that - a mace!

Thanks for the kind comments everyone.
