Hi all,

Love this site and the whole idea of prp building.....so far I have a White resin Iron Man Helmet, Star Trek Phaser, Hypo Spray and other bits and bobs.....tho I think that they're recasts!!!!!

In the middle of my Pep Iron Man Helmet & Suit tho it's a loooong job and haven't got anywhere to coat with resin or fibreglass matting as of yet so will be in card for for a long time lol.

Looking at an MDF Ghost Trap Build.....bits on the way thanks to Colin at Multimediamayhem......(Great Guy).

Was wondering how much I could pick a Resin Cast Proton Pack Shell Up for now?

Just putting my feelers out at the moment but would ideally like to have a price so I can get some cash together.

Just a bit of extra info......I'm in the UK so understand postage would be slightly higher.

Craig

You can pick them up on the GBfan board sale section for $ 250 and up plus shipping. The prices vary higher from that point based on the accuracy and quality of the shell, as well how much extra work you may need to put in them for pre-painting and finish prep. They come up randomly here on the JY sometimes although the prices are usually higher as the shells sold tend to be the better ones made.

Having scratch built a shell as well repaired others and used the shells, I would whole heartedly recommend using a shell if you can afford to. The cost do scratch building versus the fiberglass one is not all that much more and it will be much stronger for the long haul. The fiberglass is also much less weight, which means you will be much more comfortable wearing them for a few hours. A fiberglass pack will weigh 20 to 25 pounds, a scratch can go as high as 50 pounds. Something to consider when thinking about on a build.

Really appreciate all your help regarding this :)

Since joining all I seem to be like is........I want, Iwant, I want lol

I'm curious, is there a combined lights/sound set for the pack, and how much do they run for?

Haven't a clue but am sure a few people have managed it...would be nice to have a set that activates a sound file for the start up...shut down and fire sequence to work in conjunction with the relecent buttons :) .

You can get an IPOD NANO Replica off the bay from Hong Knong for around $5 and they take micro SD Cards!, add some external Ipod type speaker/amp and that might work.....little crude but a posability!!!!

This thread has been useful for me too....I'm in the UK too and have started a scratchbuild, and to be honest its stalled and nor looking good at all, a Shell would be great for me too, so the info is much appreciated. My biggest problem is the fact that I'm on a immensely tiny budget, and I think I'd just like the Proton Pack fairy to leave me one for free!

To be honest I'd be more interested in a Dirt Cheap vacform shell if such an animal exists......

It might be nice to retitle this thread "Noob Proton Pack Questions" 'cause lord knows i've got a lot of 'em!

Fry01, there's a thread on GBfans where someone made a pack on $100, using dollar store items. it looks really good.

Like this? Not a prefect demonstration (and entirely uncut and/or edited) as the pack lights were not hooked into the wand kit to sync up as they are designed, and it's not in a build with proper switches and sorts, but just the same all the sounds and lights are synced with the appropriate buttons...

Great to see someone else from the UK on here...Multimediamayhem's looking good for GB Stuff.....want loads of things from him but gotta hold back, save up and pay him a visit.....alot of peeps use Radio Shack for GB Proton Pack parts when Scratch building.
For us in the UK it's a bit of a problem as there UK Devision, aka TANDY'S was big in the 80's but died down to near on nothing and I know of only 1 small store but that's around 30 miles away and I haven't checked to see if it's still around.

Best thing I can think of doing is to save up a few quid each week and buy the add on parts bit by bit then buy a cast pack.

Heard of you Exoray and all good.....what an amazing bit of tech, the theme tune really made me want to jump up and cheer lol........how much is the kit??????

Man, I cant wait to have all these stuff here the next months... First is the shell in March... :love

@ Exoray, let me know when you have a little bit time for 3/4 questions about the shell and some details...

I want, the pack, the Trap, The Goggles & to get an estate car and make an Ecto-1 of my own.....just like the guys with the Magnum thread on here!!!!!

I'm such a geek lol.....no, seriously tho, I love props and admire all the imagination and hard work that's put into this stuff..

Can you actually get the Blue Light Bars?

The same what I want, but Ive got already my goggles...

There are some excellent pack shells ans trap kits out... Really great stuff...

I was able to take a look on a trap made from AJ's trapkit, That looks awesome... But Im sure Nick-a-Tron's Kit is great, too...

Just search the RPF for the threads... :thumbsup

I have a pack I started, and It just ground to a halt... Its a weird combination of Cardboard, Patio Lights and Expanding foam inside for rigidity... Its really Frankenstein's proton pack! Ive only managed the motherboard and cyclotron so far....I think I'd probably get back on track if I can Find an Alice frame to give me a push...

Oh and I've got a Matty PKE meter supposedly on its way from the states... But its been bounced back to the sender once already for the customs label having fallen off, and its only just started its second trip to me.... I'm starting to despair of ever receiving it!

Alice packs on (e..............Not sure if I can mention this site................................bay)....they're around £20.00 with around the same postage....well sometimes.....I've seen a few without the pack (Frame Only!), Hope that helps!

I think Alice frames can be found in the army surplus store too, i keep meaning to go over to H&H in Baltimore to try and find a frame, pistol belt, and gloves.

From experience you are likely better off getting it online... Every local surplus store I have visited sells them for about $45+ fully rigged with packs, no bare frame/straps... While I have purchased frames with straps for $15-$20 delivered on Ebay...

I have soooo many projects I want to do :( ........have planned out a GB TRAP on 6mm MDF and my BETTER HALF's just bought me some NEW Jigsaw blades (YAAAAY!!!), NEVER EVER Had any other than the 2 that come in the box.
With that, there's cutting to be done.
Iron Man Suit's resting on top of the TV......Chest Plate, Abb Section, Helmet, Brace, Neck Brace, Collar Plates ALL PEPPED UP and part of the Codpiece done......

Must put an order in with you Exoray.....very soon mate.

Seems that completed packs go for around a grand, it doesn't seem like theres a huuuuge saving in making it yourself if you buy most of the parts, but then again, i am looking forward to attaching the doo-dahs and weathering the thing.

There's alot to be said about building these yourself I guess! My Iron Man Helmet is wrong in places and will NEVER look right but that was my first attempt at PEP....Just finnished cutting the 2 sides of my GB Ghost trap....put them side by side and they're bloody awfull lol...look slightly out when seperate so will need clamping together and then sanding.....guess that's what it's all about.

The bonus to building your own pack or even getting the Fibreglass shell and resin bits is that rather than $1.200 up front or possibly the £1.000 to us in the Uk is that you can buy bits at a time and make it a project to be completed when you want.

I'm seriously suffering from the I WANT IT ALL syndrome at the mo lol
