Prop Store Wording Issue / screen used or not?

I enjoy Tom Hanks movies. I almost dropped my coffee when I saw the Hero " Saving Private Ryan" Uniform .If I had 15,000 it would be a prize for my house . I was looking through Tom Hanks items and ran across several items from " The Terminal" . The description leads you to believe that it was used in the movie . If you compare the image you can tell that they are not the same . No fold line and signature of the singer.

here's the description:

This is Viktor Navorski’s (Tom Hanks) Benny Golson autographed paper from the 2004 film The Terminal. In the film, Viktor gets stuck in the airport while traveling to get Benny Golson's autograph to finish his father’s collection of jazz musicians’ autographs. Items such as this can be seen at the end of the film as Viktor, finally free from the airport, leaves the Ramada with his long awaited Benny Golson autograph. This Ramada letterhead paper includes a bio of Benny along side a black and white photo and Benny's autograph across the top. The paper measures approximately 6" x 4" (15cm x 11cm) and is in excellent condition

The first sentence leads you to believe that IS the one used in the film. Not a backup or copy for background purpose. Does the line " Items such as this " give the seller a cop out of it being really the one being held by Tom Hanks ?

Benny Golson Autograph

It's just a nickel and dime item here , but I have noticed this in other listings where items don't always match up and we are just taking the prop stores word for it. Just wondering what others think and if this is common practice with every store.

Thanks

They should differentiate and be more specific, saying either 'screen-used' / 'hero', or 'production used'.

I would say this is production used, if anything.

Well based on the screen shots that are posted, this is NOT an original and looks nothing like the screen shots version.

Clearly not the same if you compare the pictures, but with potentially misleading wording someone may well buy this believing it to be screen used.
There ought to be better regulation over the terms used to describe props.

Hi all,

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We will review the description of this particular item now, and make the wording more clear. We will also try to eliminate this term from any future descriptions, to avoid confusion.

This particular piece is a production made back up. As noted by several here, the fold line seen on the on screen version is missing from the one that we have for sale.

That´s what i call customers service! :):thumbsup
And that what makes the Propstore the leading prop sellers IMHO!

Thank you propstore. I will eventually purchase some items from you guys as you have the best selection in the world. I am just trying to get all the terms and ins/out of it all. The can of signatures was such a large part of that movie would be great pieces to own. Keep up the great work PS , I really enjoy looking through the new arrivals.

I've seen that particular description on quite a few propstore items, however i have always interpreted this as being a production made backup rather than the actual screen used item.
I always found it a tad mis-leading though, well done POL for taking note and changing future descriptions, these guys are tops!
