Prop ID help: HHGTTG

A few years ago I swore I saw on these boards that someone had identified the base for this prop from the film however, no matter what search term I used, I can't seem to find the thread where I read that. So I figured it was time to ask everyone for some help here. Does this prop look familiar to anyone? It's possible that it was custom made but as I said, I swore someone had recognized it before as a found item, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all in advance!

According to the book description (seeing as this was never named on film) this should be Ford Prefect's Sub-Etha Sens-O-Matic (aka Sub etha radio) since his ring would have been his Electronic Thumb aka the Electronic Sub-Etha Signaling Device.

I did every variation on the hitchhiker's title, the device name, Ford Prefect, and more. Not just here either, on Google as well as other search engines. Maybe I'm misremembering that someone had recognized it but for some reason I swear it was here.
