Prop gun ID Help

Hi everyone. First post here, I purchased this today and was told by the seller it belonged to their uncle who at one point lived in the Hollywood area and had some movie props.

I’ve posted it in a few gun groups and and consensus is that it is a prop and not some one off home job or kit.

It is based on an m1 carbine and is missing the action/trigger group but does have the barrel.

It seems very well made like some real thought and work went into it.

Hoping someone here may know what obscure movie this may have come from.

Thanks, and I’ll take some more pictures tonight.

I did a Google image search and came up with a real world gun that is similar.

Listed as a
Savage ~ 93R17 ~ .17 HMR

Description:

This Savage model 93R17 features; 21" Heavy Barrel chambered in .17 HMR, Laminated Thumbhole Stock, Scope Bases, and 2 Magazines. This rifle is in excellent condition. .17 HMR

Not exact, though. Interesting that it is as similar as it is.
Sorry, no hits for props.
