POTC4 - Does Jack Sparrow have a new frock coat??

I've not been paying half attention to the new POTC4 stuff but when I did
go looking for pictures to catch a glimpse or two of the new vest fabric......

What is this coat Jack is wearing in the pic on the left....
And is it going to be sold as a costume? Picture on the right
from the toy fair. The coat looks the same style as the pic
on the left......

Anyone have any more pictures of Jack in the coat on the left?

yes it is a new fabric... i have not seen the licore raffia fabric in person, but looks like that one... any way has new buttons, new buttonhole trim.. and is really really weathered..

I didn't mean the fabric of the old familiar frock coat from the first three movies. I had noticed that the buttonhole trim was applied a little differently than POTC1,2&3. Would be interesting to know for sure if they used the Licorice when we fought so hard to get the Ebony 903 back!!

I meant the STYLE of the coat on the left. That is not the familiar Jack frock. It has turned back lapels of a different.darker color from the coat body. Likewise the coat in the pic on the right from the NY toy fair. Just found and watched the MTV video and the guy pointed to the costume with his foamy broken Blackbeard sword and said it would be a Halloween costume. It had the turned back lapels also.

Was just curious as all the other screencaps from the promotional stuff and "escaped from the set" photos, all I've seen have been the familiar old frock, except these.

I think I see what you're saying. From the pics I've seen I don't believe it's a turned back lapel. I think because he's doing a lot of movement in that pic (surfing a horse draw carriage) it's just folded in that pic. It's still the collarless jacket from before. People have noticed the the coat does look darker than the previous movies tho.

Yeah, I know it doesn't look like Jack's usual frock, the one we are use to seeing. And I know all the other pics I've seen from OST, when Jack is wearing a frock, it is the old one with which we are more than familiar.

It looks to me like a finished turned back lapel, not a flapping about lapel.....and the buttonholes aren't like Jack's regular ones, they are not in the same style or placement.......and the costume from the toy fair definitely has turned back lapels, so??? I don't know what to make of it.....

Oh well, maybe I'm just imagining things in persuit of a challenge that involves more than just searching for 'stuff'..............I'd enjoy making another frock, but not the same old one in a different fabric...........

Well, I have quite a few pics of OST and anyone is welcome to steal them for their own personal use. I admit the coat looks darker, but I have not seen a collar and I am not knowledgeable enough to speak to trim....
