Always sort of got a kick out of this prop.
A good friend and fellow member (who knows full well that I have TOO many projects on the plate), wondered if its sort of an obscure prop.
Matt Munson would likely call it a "Z list" prop. :lol But I liked it.
In POTC1 it provided (or assisted in) one of those many, charming, character defining moments for Jack Sparrow that we all know and love -- specifically when the flask is blasted through the hull of the cell on board the Pearl, Jack tries to take a swig to find that it is "bloody empty.", and returns it to a mystified Mr. Gibbs.
In POTC2, the prop actually serves as a MacGuffin, helping to ensnare curious Will Turner, and in doing so, forwarding the plot of the film.
I decided to make my own, cutting a piece of styrene to the proper shape per a screen cap, then using some parts glued on to form the basic shape, adding a sculpting medium, and shaping it out. The stopper is made of dowel, and I used a mahogony stain. I don't like it. Its too red. Should be more of a pine or oak color. I'll revisit that later.
For now, enjoy the pics, and let me know if you have questions.
