Post your cheap/ duct tape builds!

Thanks :) If they don't have it I might try and cover it with aluminum foil tape and go over that with steel wool to bring down the lustre a bit and give it a more scuffed look.

Finally adding a picture of the top and the runes I'll add after it's been weathered. I'm going to use the same method for the runes on the side. Ignore the really bad duct tape work on the top piece, I'm going to fix that later.

Edit: picture attachment doesn't seem to be working on my phone right now so I'll go try again on my grandparent's computer.

Here's the picture:

I think I will try using the aluminum foil tape first as that's something I know a bit more about than the dull-kote. I'll try and find some at the dollar store today. I go back to school on Monday and I'd at least like to have all the materials before then.

Unfortunately I can't work on the runes for the end pieces right now as my grandparents don't have the programs I use on their computer so I'll have to do that when I get back tomorrow or Sunday.

Looking at more pictures of the handle, I see that the silver that is between the leather is supposed to be raised to flush or past the leather so I'll see about doing that later.

Ok so I haven't posted in a couple of days because I've been busy getting ready for school which started up again today but I have made quite a bit of progress since the last post.

I found some cheap aluminum foil tape at a dollar store and bought four rolls - about 22 metres. I tested rubbing it with some steel wool and it brought the shine down so I covered the hammer in it but it still didn't look weathered enough for my liking so tonight I mixed together a couple colors of paint (browns and blacks) and mixed it with quite a bit of water to make a dark wash. The hammer still isn't completely weathered but I think it looks alright for now. I'll focus more on the corners and make them darker later.

I forgot to take pictures of it covered in the foil tape before it was weathered a bit so I held the foil tape by itself next to the hammer so you can see the difference.

It's taken me a while to find time to work on it, but Mjolnir is finished! I found a much better method to weather the aluminum foil tape - wood finish. It really brought down the shine.
I also printed the runes on top of a plastic material I found at the dollar store that is supposed to be used to protect the covers of books.
The handle is wrapped in vinyl.
I staged it against my Captain America Shield because it seemed fitting :)
