Plexiglas Spider-man lenses

I am working on a spider-man costume, and want to make plexiglas molded eyes. I plan on getting 3 inch x 3 inch pieces of plexiglas then molding them somehow. I want to know what I should use to form the plexiglas into the right shape. When I first started researching I thought of getting two wood blocks and carving the shape out of them. Then I would put the heated plexi in between the two blocks and press them down, forming the plexi into the shape. Later I read that wood isn't good for casting. Would it work if I made the mold out of clay, copied the mold into plaster, and then press the heated plexi in the plaster? Or is there a better way I should go about doing this?
