I agree on the PO8 comment but i've just finished mine inspired from AWE-the end. Pics to follow shortly I used a tooth (dog, bear man bear pig) then a chinese coin with a pya coin from Capn savvy..then half way up a cowrie shell..its nice..and looks similar to the pics as we can tell.

ALSO here's the spill on the red dangle..I've been told a certain Karen-somebody, who made/fixes on Johnny's wig. She added that herself and as yet no one knows what it is.

Thank you so much for posting those Hi-Res CJS!

I have to say with a heavy heart though, that I'm REALLY underwhelmed by what I see so far. Blackbeard looks...plain...not really diggin' the younger Barbossa look...and Penelope looks...safe. I don't know what I was expecting or maybe I'm just used to the main cast being so iconic but I really wanted something more intricate for Angelica. :(

Also, I'm terrified because I KNOW the dancing and hand holding between Jack and Angelica are going to send waves of fans into a fury about ruining his character. And I have to agree that it all just seems so awkward. But I'm a sap and girlie girl and love love stories and I'm also thrilled to have a costume to wear with Travis as Jack, as I'm sure all the gfs of Jacks are.

So regardless, I'M MAKIN' IT ANYWAYS! And starting ASAP!

Because Lord knows that after I embark on the impossible quest for the perfect paisley ( God, I HATE, I HATE, I HATE looking for paisley matches! >_< ) by the time I'm satisfied with one it'll be a day before the movie comes out. @_@

Any tips in direction for the vest fabric would be IMMENSELY appreciated...I'll post any decent findings here too for my fellow lady Angelicas. :)

Aelynn! Take a look over at Keep To The Code. We have very specific threads started for the other characters. Blackbeard and Angelica. I found various hat styles and posted.

I am looking for the paisley fabric and found one that is batik. Not as sharp as the original fabric. Still looking though.

Not too sure if the under bust corset is leather or material. Nice gold filigree down the front. I am assuming that is the cinching area.

Waist belt and buckle hard to see because it blends into the corset gold pattern.

Over the knee boots are easy to find. Just need to make sure they have a 1/2 inch heel and not those 4 inch dominatrix styles! :confused Two buckle ties on each boot and at ankle.

I am going to assume black drop front breeches.

Off the shoulder chemise peasant shirt?

Frock coat and baldric need better pix.

Gold hoop earring in left ear and some sort of bead dangle in the right ear!

Ah need more hi res pics. Waistcoat is probably something to start with as well as the hat. Boots and pants could be "close enoughs."

Cheers to you on your endeavor! I'm going to a fabric warehouse myself to search thru bolts and bolts and bolts of fabric. Hopefully amongst those bolts, there will be paisley!

Also, what is her corset/cincher made of...Leather? :confused
It looked to have a pattern to it unless I'm not seeing it right?
If it is in fact leather, I have a plain black corset that I guess can be embellished.
Gold braid or brass metal clasps? :unsure

Anybody??

Yeah, I know the feeling I looked about a kabillion paisley patterns when I was looking for the CJS baldric vinyl. I don't remember seeing the Angelica one thought :lol:cry ....but I'll keep an eye out.

And OMG, I think I have a blouse like that, from 5 or 6 or 7 years ago during the 'hippy' resurgance........man, what closet would that old stuff be in?......................

Did a really quick look through a few of my saved paisley pattern reference threads, this one is a little close, so maybe SA won't be too awfully hard to find! Yeah, right! Famous last words......

Ha Ha Sparrowed. That too is one that I had saved in my browser favorites!:love:love

I still think the paisley pattern is a little bit too dark and not enough yellow/gold. But an excellent for a "close enough" which I think will be my motto for this costume.

There also appears to be a black trim around the waistcoat as well but only on the inside panels. i don't see any buttons except for that little piece of string that ties the two parts together. I wonder if her waistcoat is just made to flutter about like a sleeveless frock coat. The fanning in the back area reminds me alot of a frock coat.

The more I look at pics of Penelope Cruz in this costume I can see that there is definitely a Spanish flair to her look. The hat, the over the knee riding boots, the flare in her wasitcoat, etc.

To me, I think its too brownish? (Or is it my monitor again :confused )

I'm also looking for a pic of the back of it...I saw one pic of it "somewhere" here, or KTTC...But can't find it now :(

I'm off to the fabric store later today to see what "treasure" I can find! :D

AND YES! Most definitely Spanish! As I said over at KTTC, I think her hat resembles a Spanish Gaucho hat.
