PHOTOSHOOT in an abandoned mill - Bellatrix Lestrange - Azkaban

Re: Bellatrix Lestrange - Azkaban prison uniform FINISHED!

This ended up coming out great.

Looks like you met Josh (Voldemort). He's from New Hampshire I believe... he always comes to SMF.

Once again in awe of the talent on this site, your cold and suffering have produced some truly creepy images. Gratz.

Thank you especially, Pete...this costume would be nothing without the amazing work you did creating the ID plaque for me. Its one of my favorite props!

Very nice job with the shoot!

Those pics are awesome!!!!!! Ugh! I would kill for awesome shoot locations like that. You totally nailed all the posing and character faces of Bellatrix. Those photos are bad ass! Lol I know your beef on the whole costume contest thing but I was just reading the comments on the female section and there's a whole issue that got started about "determining how much work went into one costume over another" -
(it's way more complicated then that but that's what the main issue boiled down to and then exploded into something else lol)

Anywho it just got me thinking more that you never really can tell the amount of "work" that goes into any costume. You see a finished pic like yours of the prison outfit and one could think that the costume is an awesome "simple" costume. But with the thread here then you see the amount of work that goes into it between finding the fabric, dyeing the fabric, weathering the fabric, finding the photographer, dealing with the weather conditions at the shoot location, finding the props, the makeup, the hair.....and really it just goes on and on.....now that "simple costume" has become way more detailed and time consuming then sometimes a more "elaborate" costume. (I know you do super elaborate stuff as well like the Elizabethean costumes)

So what I'm trying to say lol, is that the time and energy put into this costume and shoot clearly shows and everything is so well done!

:$ You are too kind! And thank you.

You're so right about judging how much work goes into a costume. I thought this one would be really easy and it ended up being a lot more work than I originally figured.

As far as locations go...a friend of mine who costumes as Hermione got me a little bit obsessed with photo locations scouting. Now I've got a whole line up on places to do character pics. Luckily in Southeastern PA, we have lots of older architecture that lends itself well to the 'Potterverse' as well as historical costumes in general. Not to mention, it seems like our local 501st garrison is chock full of talented professional photographers. So that certainly helps when you're trying to get someone to do photos for you that understands the characters and how to photograph them best.
