Pepakura or original sculpt?

I am getting back into costuming and I am going BIG. Gypsy Danger. That's right, I am going to put together a full suit of armor(the Jaeger, not the pilot inside) to wear. I have no time limit on this and am prepared to invest any amount of time and money(don't tell the wife!) to do this. My first stumbling block I am finding is what to start with. Do I want Pep fiber glassed and resined like Halo armor, an original sculpt with silicone/mother mold and slush cast like a Clone trooper, or vacuum formed from molds like stormtrooper armor? Ahh, decisions, decisions. I will work to find my way on this matter. Until then, I will work to scour the rpf forums and see what all you guys are doing and see if that can clear anything up for me. If anyone has any suggestions, feel free to post them here and we'll see where it takes me. Thanks and wish me luck!:thumbsup

Its been about 3 years since I used Pepakura Designer. I forget how to ensure that the pages are scaled to my size. Any one care to give this tired old man a quick schooling on how to do it? Thanks!

Why must it be one or the other? If you do a pep set of armor, that is what you have: a pepped set of paper armor. If you were to try to turn it into a fiberglassed set of armor, it would require more work than to start from scratch.

So how about this: start the pep armor to give yourself a test fit. If you like what you see, use it as a reference model, and sculpt a clay model ( using water clay) for molding.

That's one idea I had. Never made a mold from a sculpt before. I tried it once and it was a failure. I guess I could try it again...
