Pep - ARF clone trooper helmet build

Hi all,

First time posting around these parts but have lurked around the forums on and off for quite awhile before signing up a week ago.

Thought I would share some work I'm doing on an ARF helmet build currently. One the Pep is finished I'm going to resin and then bondo the helmet and likely take a mold eventually.

All the greebles I've had to make myself as the Pep file never had them. Currently they're a tad rough but oncertainly I start using bondo I will clean them up a lot and make it more accurate.

Anyway, enough chit chat pictures as below; 20160730_123640.jpg20160730_161611.jpg20160731_135424.jpg20160807_163945.jpg20160807_163957.jpg20160807_221121.jpg20160808_102922.jpg20160808_100550.jpg

Hi all,

Finished with the Pep today. Quite happy with how it's turned out. Now to resin and bondo it.

Hi, and welcome to the RPF! Best of luck with the resin and bondo.

Haven't seen too many of these helmets finished, so please keep those pics coming. :thumbsup

Thanks for the comments guys, I'll be starting to strengthen it shortly before I apply the resin coating. I'm looking forward to starting the next phase of the project.

Hey all,

Started to resin the helmet today. Got the first coat on this afternoon and will do a second coat tomorrow then do the interior of the helmet too.

Now that is one sharp looking pep!

Great idea with the hot dog sticks and binder clips!

Thanks for the compliment Blaxmyth. Trying to keep it as sharp and tidy as I can, makes it easier later on when it comes to doing all the details etc.

Yer I stole the idea of the hot dog sticks and binder clips off a youtube video I saw. The inside of the helmet has them for strengthening so the helmet doesn't warp out of shape.

Hi all,

Small update. Been working on forming the ridge line on the dome. Want to get it nice and straight then do the other half.

Hi all,

Bit of an update, been working slowly away at the form of the dome, visor, helmet ring and neck ring. Just starting to get some of the basic shape sorted on the lower parts of the helmet and rounding it slowly as I go.
I purchased some Knead It, a local brand of epoxy putty, to get the danged dome ridge line sorted correctly. I roughly formed it to shape and have used a rotary sanding drum on my dremel to get the edge I wanted. Starting to look pretty good just from the little rear section I've done.

Overall I'm starting to feel a lot more happy about the top of the helmet, I've learnt what does and doesn't work well with forming the overall shape and once I've got the lower parts shaped nicely I'll be getting into the trickier parts and sharping edges up as needed.
