Painting that Metal finish on Resin-plastic-etc

I was wandering around Pat Catan's crafts store, actually I was dragged in kicking and screaming, and found paint called "Sophisticated Finish". It runs about 7 dollars for a tube, but it can give a shiny gold and silver look. It also has a variety of antiquing colors as well. The demo they had was an outdoor statue in gold that had been sitting out in the rain, and none of the gold came off.

It maybe worth checking into for some of you looking for the nice finish.

Thanks for the info. Now, I'll just have to strip down my newly-painted Mal pistol and start all over again.....

:D

Just keep telling yourself, "It isn't the prop your interested in...it the making of it that you enjoy. Or the remaking of it :D)

Oh, it is always the making that gives satisfaction...just thought I had figured out how to make it look good and now I learn there is a better paint out there. I do enjoy re-doing things so they look better. :D

I've used it to create antique copper finishes. It's great -- you're actually painting on a layer of thin metal so you can apply patinas to it as well. Although I must admit I've used copper spray paint and a black ink wash to better effect.

But the patina blue on copper is indistinguishable from real metal. I finished a chess set with it and it looks great. It even feels "cold" in your hand.
