Paintball Accident Spurs Armor Build

While competing in General's Cup in Florida last month, I was caught in a friendly fire accident. I took a paintball from a muzzle less than two inches from my arm. It cut into the muscle and will leave a lovely scar. The kicker was, had this been in exactly the same spot on my OTHER arm, it would have messed up a very personal and expensive tattoo! At my field and on my team, I am known as "Agent-K" or The Predator because of my helmet. I had been taking some nasty shots as I have been playing more aggressively. I used the templates found here a while ago and started a cardboard build, but have had difficulty getting workspace. Now I am going for a functional paintball armor setup and have started the second helmet build as well. I had laying around, an old fish pond. The plastic is black, perfect, and about 1/8 inch thick. I have heat molded this stuff before as I make medieval armor and fight in re-enactment groups. We have been using this plastic for a while in scale mail. I am working on my St. George idea, in using a dragonscale armor idea. I cut out a pattern on wood and five plastic shoulder bell pieces tonight. I will post pix as my camera is dead atm. I had to oversize the pattern as I have huge shoulders, but with the pattern glued onto wood, I can use it indefinitely. I will be working on foamies and resin for my con build, but may integrate the plastic as I build it. I'll post pix of the old helmet design. The new one will be better and more durable. More to follow,...

Ohhh nice strawberry you have there , I've just been on a walk on today with my team, got a shot in the neck and the back of my arm,but none as nice as that lol, I did however shoot a mate straight in his mask and filled his mouth with paint , cpps paint is nasty ;-)

The first set of plates is made and shaped. I cut and sanded the edges on the other shoulder set. I cable tied the plates together for a test fit. I will be working on the chest and back plates tonight and tomorrow. I hope to have my new PB helmet by the end of next week and will start building new crest of plastic instead of cardboard. The first was only meant to last one event, but has survived over nine!
