Hey all,

Just added this to my site and figured I'd share. You can always check out our Movie Prop Restorations gallery for more projects like this one.

It's an original Yoda puppet hand, used in ESB. One finger had a section that had torn/worn away, there was damage to the thumb tip and a tear (and some crumbling) along the wrist.

Approach was to stabilize and blend... not do anything over the top or crazy. As with the Gremlin, I worked very hard to match the faded, old paint and textures of the areas surrounding the repairs. Being careful not to disturb the vintage "feel" of the piece.

Credit for the display base goes to Jeff Castillo. My client purchased the piece from SU.com and sent it to me for repair.

Anyway, hope you enjoy the pics and feel free to hit my site for more pics and info about this sorta thing :)

Wow! We should really give you a hand for that restoration ! It doesn't look like a hand-me-down anymore.

I've got to hand it to 'ya, it looks like you got it back to it's original condition.

Damn, you're pretty handy.

If you need an extra hand on a future project, just let me know.

Ow, side splitting :lol

I reckon you've put your foot in your mouth with all those hand puns.

Nice job on the restoration, Tom. The before pictures definitely help, as I'd never be able to tell what was done without them. Beautiful, seamless job.

It always impresses me what you are able to restore without ruining the original - seamless and perfect... the way it should be! :thumbsup

Wow, Tom, one would never know it was restored.

Awesome, seamless work. :thumbsup

"Billy Mays here for Prop Fixer, a new product to fix old and rotting props. Just sprinkle a little dab of this on decaying movie related items and watch them bounce back to their original luster. Your's for only $19.95 plus shipping. BUT WAIT...there's more! If you order Prop Fixer right now we'll throw in..." :lol

Sorry, those before/after shots reminded me of those infomercials. Old and tattered to like new.

Magic as usual, Tom. Great stuff.

You're an animal, Tom. How the hell do you do it? You saved the master!Bravo (now he can wipe his butt and blow his nose at the same time :lol).

Amazing work, as usual, on an amazing piece!

You are building up one helluva 'folio Tom!

Work looks fantastic - in areas where you need to "fill in" material, do you custom-mix your urethane or latex to match what was there, or is there a "commonly used" type for such restoration work?
