Original stage used backdrop

Hi All,

Not exactly a prop more a piece of scenery from a rather famous rock band on one of their earlier tours. Its about 10 feet by 10 feet its big. Any of the RPF rock fans name the band and the year. No prizes just a bit of fun.

Also it stinks of being in storage for a couple of decades any good ideas to get it smelling sweet without washing it or damaging it?

This will only appeal to a small amount of people on the forum but to those who ROCK - enjoy.

Cheers Chris.

Wow, I would have been off by a few years. I thought Killers came out in the 70s but it came out in the 80s, 81 to be specific. I had it on 8-track. I thought by the 80s all my music was on vinyl, cassette, or cd.

Nope, that's Eddie The Head from Iron Maiden.

I used to have that six foot tall Live After Death poster when I was a wee kid.

The way I always got smells out of fabric that couldn't be washed was leave it out on the line overnight. When I used to hang out/work at bars, I hung every item of clothing out on the line for the night before it was even fit to go in the clothes hamper.

To eliminate the smell, hang it on a clothes line and give it a couple mistings of unscented Febreeze. It'll kill the smell and won't leave any flowery smell behind.

Just test it on a small corner first to make sure there's no weird interaction with the material (shouldn't be, but you never know).

:eek Oh.. Cool. Congratulations.

I know a couple of Iron Maiden fans who would kill for something like that.

I find it funny that some of you didn't know of Eddie. That was the subject of drawings in our notebooks. There was one guy that was very talented at drawing him.

I used to have that Iron Maiden poster as a kid. Not so much for the music, but for the scary horror aspects of Eddie. Ah, the memories...now if I could only find that classic Heather Thomspon pink bikini poster :)

One of my favorite album covers. Great score on the backdrop as well. Other than possibly spraying it with Fabreez, I don't know how you might "de-funk" it. Maybe let it hang outside in for a while, (weather permitting), and let it air out some.

That's an old one..'81 or '82?
FYI - I painted Rush's "Roll the Bones" drop. :)

I saw Rush that tour they were great and as always a top stage setup nice one Jayn :thumbsup

It wasn't that hard a quiz for the rock fans then :) It is Iron Maiden from the 1981 Killer world tour. I blagged it from a member of the lighting crew who worked for Meteorlites in the 80's. It is really big in fact I have nowhere big enough to display it properly.

Here is a picture showing it's size. Note the guy in the picture is not me its just a friend of the original owner showing it size.

The backdrop also looks like it has been aroud the world when viewed close up.

Cheers Chris.

Was never into Iron Maiden, but there were always enough long stragly haired black metal t-shirt wearing "metal heads" walking around junior and senior high to know that it's Eddie.

I got the Eddie toys. I need to get the Phantom and Live after Death. I have Killers, The Trooper, Piece of Mind, and Somewhere in Time. Eddie the man when it comes to mascots. He could kick Vic Rattlehead's ass. I have all of the Eddie artwork saved to my hard drive. Great Score.

Thanks.

Greg

That's a really cool piece. It's gets extra style points for being a "Pre-Bruce Dickinson" stage prop.

FYI: Bruce made his Maiden debut on, Number Of The Beast in 82.

Cheers.

Very cool.

By the way, I'm old enough to have seen Def Leppard when Rick had both arms.

Seen Motorhead 13 times too... pardon?
