Often, Tony Dyson of the White Horse Toy company is credited with the construction of R2-D2 in the Star Wars Original Trilogy films. While Tony did work on the second iteration of R2 made out of fiberglass, it’s not well known that it was actually Dr. David Watling, while working a Peteric Engineering, who was responsible for the construction of the aluminum R2 for the first Star Wars film.
