I seem to recall another movie just like this with the White House attacked and the President captured and one lone Secret Service agent had to save the day. Not really feeling it.

When the Frak did Two-face get to be president....and Lucius Fox the second in command..... lol... Batman gonna save the day!!.
Like the youtube comments : I liked this movie when it was called Die hard..

That's White House Down by Roland Emmerich.

I get real tired of the 'parallel development' of studios. They hear some other studio is making a SCIFI movie so they have to make one with the same plot, etc etc. Pass on this for sheer unoriginality. :thumbsdown

Yeah there is no way this is a coincidence that they share similar plots, but for now we can't be sure who stole the idea. White House Down is releasing about three months later in June. And there is the possibility that Olympus Has Fallen was the original one and its story concept was probably copied by White House Down.

Nothing new here...
Two movies about Wyatt Earp at the exact same time?
Two movies about an asteroid hitting the earth, also in the same summer?
Lots of examples of this in Hollywood history...

Dang...from the title I thought this was gonna be a movie about the Gods of Mt. Olympus....no, about politics and government. I'll pass.

There is a similar story in a Vince Flynn Novel with his main character "Mitch Rapp"

Still, it looks fun :)

^ HAHAHAHHAHAHA! What a missed opportunity not to include any of these lines in what is sure to be a cheese fest anyway.

Well, I debated posting here about my experience..but alas here goes:
The best Diehard since the last Diehard. Yeah. No, maybe just better than the last Diehard. Maybe, just barely.

I did find myself eye rolling a bit, then laughing at myself for seeing this..but yeah, it was way late at night.

AMAZING - LOVED IT! First great action movie that I've seen in a long while.

I'll be adding that to my blu-ray collection!!!

Also, I RARELY see a movie in theaters 2x, and can't remember the last time that I did or said I wanted to, but this is one movie that I'd certainly see again!!

I found it to be a bland and forgettable action movie that wanted to be Die Hard, but failed to create any interesting or memorable characters at all, despite having an all star cast of great actors.

It just made me want to watch the original Die Hard, again, where even the minor characters were way more interesting than any of the main characters here.

The visual effects were pretty dodgy, too. A lot of shots looked like second rate tv work, especially the scene where the flag is replaced.

Gerard Butler's smart ass routine was pretty funny, but after awhile you realized he was just saying **** a lot and it got old.

Not a bad movie. I certainly wasn't bored by excessive action, but it was just very average.

Saw this last night. Not terrible, not great. The first half was a little better than the last half. Some plot points made little to no sense. Movies seemed to run out of ideas as it went on.

2 3/4 stars out of 4.
