I haven't taken pictures yet because it's night and probably best to shoot pics in natural sunlight during the day, but I got Laurent's ark kit tonight that Taz Vader recommended in the Junkyard back in August.
I have wanted to add an ark replica to my prop collection for ages, but no one was doing them. I commissioned a guy to do one 4 years ago that went bust and after getting my money back after waiting for the guy to complete it to nothing but excuses, I never thought I'd have one until now.
THIS is the holy grail of Indy prop replicas. It's going to take some work to clean up and prep for vacuum plating, but that's the nature of kits, and Laurent, I tip my hat to you. This is outstanding work. It's going to be very fulfilling to now be involved in building and completing this, and have a fun project to work on that will hopefully make people's jaws drop when they see it. It's made in a fiberglass resin that won't be any problem getting plated with a gold finish.
It's really going to look authentic, the only minor detail I can think of that I might modify are the pine cone "feet", the rings are a little off against what the real prop looks like but DAMN... easy fix and it's certainly not a complaint. For what Laurent managed to deliver (and you have no idea how lightweight but sturdy the pieces are...) if you can manage to afford one of these and take it on as a weekend project and get it vaccum plated so that it truly shines, it's a worthy investment for a drop dead display piece.
Thanks to the talented artisan and craftsman Laurent in France for providing this wonderful addition to my Indy prop replica collection!
I will shoot some pics and post them when I have a chance to during daylight over the weekend when I'm not working.
