Here's the next in the series of old stuff.

The venerable Monogram Voyager...

And it wasn't a bad kit, really. Mine, although the pics don't show it...has seen better days. It's literally falling apart and needs to either be decommed or extensively refurbished. The decal film is yellowing, as is normal in a kit this old ( again...mid-'90s ). and some of my color choices, such as the phaser strips, are just not correct.

Now there are upgrade decal sets. They didn't exist when this was built, so I used ultra-fine point art markers to do the lifeboat markings, phaser strip warning areas, and etc.

Another effort using cheap airbrushed craft paint and pastels...

I really enjoyed that kit...simple and neat.

I remember it is the model you did that I learned about using the different colors to make the open type panels look like there was useful mechanical clutter inside.

Regardless of it's aging... looks great. You've always made gold from straw..lol.

BTW...Bob.. ask Richard to show you his Voyager sometime... he lit his with neon. I think it was in the fine modelers mag too. The guy was a natural way before his fiberglass days. LOL.

Well here's mine, the blinkie's burned out years ago and there's a few light leaks, but it was the first model I ever lit up. I had a local sign shop make the neon tubes for it. Making those slit type windows was like pulling teeth. I also scratch built the sensor pallets, I didn't like the one's that came with the kit.

I see yours is suffering from the very same decal age issues as mine. Still it's a lovely work. Very well done.

Custom tubes couldn't have been cheap, either.

We're so spoiled by our lighting options today. It's amazing what we have now compared to back then.
