Hey guys, didn't want to start a new thread of yet ANOTHER DL-44 build, but I need some advice. I have a DEC steel kit from the 2nd run with an alum scope mount. First off, after bluing the scope too long it's a bit chalky. I hit it with some Lin Seed oil but that didn't quite do it. What is the best method to get it shinier? Clear coat? Also, is there something I can use to "seal" the scope mount once I scrape off the paint to weather? Thirdly, how in the heck do I fasten the brass scope rings with those tiny screws? With the ring collar directly against the scope, seems like there is no room for the screw to bite. And lastly, the mystery ring, just a drop of bluing in the center? It seems to have some swirly marking too, I just don't want to darken it too much. Oh, and the cross hairs that came with the kit....is that a heat transfer? Any comments welcome.
