New user posting in Junkyard

Hi, I know that as a new user I have to reach a certain post count, and also wait 90 days to be able to post in the JY.

I understand this is so members can get a "feel" for us newbies, and the sort of people we are, before we attempt to sell anything, which makes perfect sense to me.

But I was wondering if there is any way we could have our wait time cut short, say, to 30 days, so we can at least comment in interest threads, or let others in a sale thread know we have bought items and received them.

I find it a little frustrating having to PM members all the time. More from their point of view than mine, as quite often I will see the same question asked in their thread later on.

I have no problem with not being able to sell in the JY, I am only seeing if this is a viable option

Cheers

Glenn

Hi Glenn,

Our guideline on new members not buying and selling on the RPF is a long standing policy, and not likely to change in favor of making it easier to buy or sell anytime soon.

Simply put, we've seen far too many bad situations crop up where the cause of the problem was someone in way too big of a hurry to start buying or selling here on the RPF. Our policy against new members buying and selling here protects both new members and veteran members alike, and and helps instill two valuable concepts: patience, and community.

So relax, take some time to look around and get involved in the discussions taking place in the prop, model, and costuming forums. That's where all the fun is on the RPF anyway. Besides, whatever might be for sale this week will probably be back in a more accurate version next year anyway... :lol

Hi WW, I fully understand the policy, and have no problem with the selling part. That makes perfect sense and I did not want or need that to change.

I just thought it would be handy to be able to post a reply in a thread about something I may have already purchased in a run, especially when other members ask about the item offered, or to express interest in a run I am interested in.

It was just to save PMing members mostly. Thanks for looking at the suggestion though, it never hurts to ask.
