Yes, I posted about this to my Facebook group, 2001: Making a Masterpiece. There's some really interesting stuff in there.

Many shots will look very familiar, and it's because they were printed in Jerome Agel's 2001 book that came out in the early 1970s. But many are totally new.

Many new shots reveal interesting information about the production. For example, until now there's only been one photograph known of the EVA pod interior set (ie: the one used for filming interior scenes), and it was a shot in the Kubrick Archives that has never been published.

Thanks to this collection there are now several photos from this new collection demonstrating what we knew only through deduction - that the internal set was forklifted into the pod bay set and used for filming the scene where the astronauts plot against HAL. These photos also show that the interior set was indeed too large to have fit inside one of the full-sized pods. (it was about the same size, and therefore too big) The same photo - the one you posted above - is now the sole shot we have showing part of the back of the HAL faceplate.

There's also a shot of the Fairchild-Curtis extreme wide angle lens being used to set up the footage of the astronauts talking to mission control following the AE-35 test. This is the shot you posted above, with two stand-ins for Poole and Bowman. Note that it's not one of the HAL POV shots with a circular fisheye, however - it's a wide-angle view of the set with the two astronauts.

Thanks for that info Neil; also, in the stack of B&W pictures, you can see a shot of the "clean" Moonbus (no wear & tear yet) + a shot of the command part of the Discovery model. In the shot you've mentioned (interior of the EVA Pod) you can also see the back of HAL (shot with the aluminium box and some kind of light/electrical cord coming from it at the top of the work bench). Very interesting for sure!! I'm certain, as I said above, that it's only a small part of Trumbull's collection of various photography and other documents he got/took from the production during his stint on the movie.:cool:

Incidentally one photo was included in one of the collections in error. Took me ages to figure out, since it did not look right at all for 2001, especially the lens housing.

This is Trumbull with a rotating Panavision 65 camera rig used to film an unused sequence in Brainstorm (1983). That's cinematographer Richard Yuricich on the right, I think.

This is why Trumbull looks older than he should for the mid 1960s.
