This one took me completely by surprise. I ordered it about six months ago at Comic Con, and forgot about it. I actually wasn't expecting it to be that good. But PE has done it again.
This is the "Gift Set" of Lab Eagle with Boosters, Alpha Tank and Moon buggy.
Unlike previous releases that were packed in the ungainly rectangular box with card sticking up, THIS Eagle is wonderfully presented inside a square box, with large flap to reveal the contents. The box is closed with tabs and not tape, so you can open and close it without damage.
Inside is the same Lab Eagle ("Medical Eagle") as before, but with the addition of the booster unit for on top. You know that booster unit always made me uncomfortable... the engines being tilted up like that would tend to push the Eagle off course, making it unflyable. The booster engine bells should be pointed straight back, but I guess somebody thought that didn't "look cool enough". LOL
The Alpha Tank is quite nice indeed. It's not my favorite of the designs (that would be the tank that has an Eagle-like cockpit), but the model here is quite nice. The laser gun swivels and tilts, and is connected by a thin string to the tank. There are VERY small parts here, tiny pipes and whatnot... amazingly well done. There's even a tiny seat inside the bubble-dome on top (no astronaut figure inside though unfortunately).
And last we have the Moon Buggy. This is another fantastic piece, and it's great to have a super detailed Buggy to scale with an Eagle. (if PE were to realease say a sixth scale or even 12th scale buggy on its own, I'd buy that as well). You have to understand that this Buggy is less than an inch long. The paint ops on this are unbelievable.
SO all in all, a very very fine set indeed. Someone who has none of these Product Enterprise diecast Eagles that have come out, should get at least this one set.
