I'm sold! This was his test shot for Snyder... looks like Reeve to me. I liked Routh as Superman, but Cavill looks better I think. He looks more like Reeve than Routh did.

I'm just happy that it doesn't look like the spitcurl had a curling iron taken to it!

I think he looks yummy! :love

Wow. I want to see what he looks like in the new suit

aka, I want to see the new suit.

aka, I hope the new suit doesn't suck.

:lol

If only the "finished product" will look like that. How much of that photoshop is Reeve? I'm thinking the hair is not Cavill's, right?

Here is your answer.

They even kept capedwonder.com's funky coloring. I think even I would look like Reeve if I just photoshopped my facial features onto this photo.

Makes it seem like they're trying to win over Reeve fans any way they can.

They literally only shopped his "T-zone" in to the picture. It's his eyes, nose, and mouth. They kept all of Reeve's bone structure (cheeks, chin, jawline, overall shape of face, etc.).

Actually when I look more closely, they may only have put in Cavill's eyes and nose. Below the naso-labial trough, and outside the eyes and nose, I'm thinking it's all Reeve. This looks like very amateur fan work, and the only reason more people aren't catching it is because the "Cavill" picture is small.

I'm not saying Cavill's a bad choice. I remain neutral on the subject. I also am not saying that Reeve is the "ultimate" physical representation of Superman. He was great in the role, of course, but what made him good was that he looked pretty close to the comics AND MORE IMPORTANTLY acted the role well.

Cavill's look isn't the deciding factor for me. They can make him look good enough for the part. I thought Routh looked good enough for the part. The real problem with Routh's entry wasn't his performance (which was basically aping Reeve's performances), but rather the weak-ish script and other bad decisions about the film.

From watching Cavill in The Tudors, I think he generally has the acting chops to pull it off, and can be made to look the part. The weak link here will be the script and possibly some other casting decisions (IE: please, no more emaciated Loises).

Fingers crossed he has no costume. Maybe just have him not wear a shirt, with a big "shield" tattoo on his chest... and get out the hair straighteners and mascara.
