Netflix - Dark props

Having some scale issues and finding more inaccuracies but rolling with it, this might be version 1 :).

More resin and FDM parts printed.
I made the left side module using layers of MDF glued together and then routed using a printed template. The round section is more layers of MDF cut using a large holesaw. The rectangular raised sections were FDM printed as 3 flat pieces with a 0.5mm base layer. This way they could be easily curved around the MDF form and glued in place.

I probably should start a separate thread :).
Decided to customise the rear right area, used some brass pieces from the junk pile and two real vacuum tubes. Still adding some smaller resin gears to fill in the clockwork section.

Hey! This project looks incredible. If you need references, let me know. I have a whole collection of 4K screenshots of every time the machine was onscreen in the entire show. I also have good references for the ammeters(I own a set of them).

Thanks egosheep!
I gave up looking for the actual ammeters, I don't have the patience or budget for screen accurate :). Having trouble finding a ball end toggle switch, seems to be lots in the US but nothing here in Australia. Asking some places if they can ship over but I might try and make one on the lathe and replace a regular toggle switch lever.

I'll take a look at the screenshots when I start on version 2! :D

Gauges have arrived, drilled holes for them in the 2mm aluminium sheet with regular hole saws, they were standard sizes so that was good.
Did a test print of two pieces to make the round gauge more accurate. I will wire up the gauges so they are some what functional, already modified the square 10A DC meter to be a voltmeter.

I pulled apart a regular toggle switch and turned down the toggle on the lathe. It came out pretty good, it's a bit long overall so I'll try again on a shorter switch.
Getting some paint on the front panel and airbrushed some Mr Colour brass onto lots of parts, coming up nice. I'll try some weathering on some test peices next, need to dirty up that brass a bit :).

You're doing the lords work here, man. This is so awesome!

If you do end up doing a second version, I can possibly get you vintage ammeters for the left side. I have a boxed set of 4 and would only need 2 for eventually doing one machine. I think I also have a couple of accurate Samsonite's to keep it in. They are at my parent's in the US so it might take me a while, but I could get one to you for the cost of shipping. They can also be pretty easily found on ebay if you're looking locally. It's a 1980 Silhouette II.

Ha! You can call me Noah :)

If I can get 3D files from this version, https://www.artstation.com/artwork/8lA0bq, then I'd look at doing it all again, but I'll get this one finished first. I was tempted to add some motors for movement of the clockwork and the round thingy on the left.....

The samsonite cases look to be another thing that are hard to find in Australia, pretty normal really. Will see what I can find and if I must I'll pay for shipping from the US :).

Varnished the box, made up the side panels with handles, started to weather the internals and wire it all up :).

Trying to find a lock that will work, bit worried about trying to do the mortoise inserts or even half mortiose cutouts. I have 3D printed a key and keyhole, I may even 3D print the key lock as it does not need to be fully functional, then I donn't have to risk the wood work.

Also printed out the book cover on photo paper. It is wrapped around a cardboard former to create the cover. The inside is a piece of wood with printed 'book paper' texture stuck on.

This is the closest lock I found when I was looking last year. They have a few other options as well on the site.

I looked at those but with the way the box opens the two parts of the lock won't be able to engage. There are versions that have a 'hook' that swings out and goes into a flat plate, but I have not seen half mortoise versions.

A version of Sandman0077's Golden Time Travel Sphere (Golden Time-Travel Sphere from "Dark").

I didn't like my chances of getting this to work in my resin printer, so I edited the files to separate the detailed dials from the less detailed sphere sections. Those bigger sphere parts were FDM printed along with the particle chamber. All the dials and small parts were resin printed.

After the usual sanding and spray filling I used a gold spray paint followed by airbrushed brass. Weathering was black and brown acrylics stipled into the details and dabbed off with a cloth. Made a stand out of pine, large holesaws used to make the ring and then rounded over on the router table.

I'm still working on the 'particle', so far I have a FDM printed one, ping pong ball and a solid glass sphere. It really needs to be a clear hollow sphere, but I like the idea of having several particles on display.
