Need help with helmet on my new build

Hi all,

As the title says, I need help with the helmet of my new build.
first here are some pics of the actual armor (with helmet)

deadboys3.jpgthe one on the right.

I got inspired by an other user here the started one, and since I've been playing the game for over 15 years, I thought the time is right to build this.

I have most of the other pieces done, but when I got down to the actual helmet I am stumped. Instead of wasting time, effort and paper and still be frustrated that it\s not to my liking (shape, proportions and the overall look of it), I though I would ask you guys for some help.

I would be happy with technique help, pointing me the way of a pattern (either exact or one that can be easily modded) or actually having someone make a pattern for it that I can use (and of course share with anyone who wants it).

here is a pic of the paper mock up of the chest piece. (hope you like it)

Well, any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

thanks

Are you doing this with paper or foam?
I like my eva and craft foams easy to work with and fairly forgiving.

Evil Ted has a great basic helmet pattern that can be easily modified to suit your needs. It is an open face design but again super easy to modify

Hey,

Yes I got his basic helmet kit, unfortunately the shape is wrong for the helmet, unless I can't see the way to mod it (spent a whole after-noon trying, this is why I am asking for help).

Right now, I am looking at basing it on my Mando helmet. I was looking at the basic shape and from what I can see it looks like a dome on top with a "cylinder" for the helmet walls. I'll try that, if it doesn't work I'll keep trying stuff. I have 'till next summer to figure it out.

Also, maybe you guys can answer this. Evil Ted has a large helmet kit, is it bigger that his basic helmet? and is the shape similar to his basic helmet.

again thanks

you've got front and side views of the helmet, you should be able to make a cardstock paper template in an hr or two, then use that to make the foam version. Stand infront of a mirror, draw, cut, it should be pretty quick.

The top just needs the radius for your helmet unless you want to be fancy and find an polycarbonate wheel to meet your needs. Someone recently posted a magneto helmet that they painted to look black n shiny.

The use dark sunglasses for the part of the helmet over your eyes.

hey,

Thanks JPH for the advice. Very informative.

As for the helmet, I finally ended up using my Mando bucket as a template. So far its coming out good. I'll have to see how the foam version looks, but so far it seems like its on the right track.

keep the the advice and tips coming, all help is greatly appreciated.

thanks
JS
